Unpack the PHPlot distribution into a convenient directory. PHPlot releases
4 |
are available both as ZIP files, and as gzip-compressed TAR files.
5 |
Use whichever format is more convenient for you. In the example below, the
6 |
TAR format is unpacked.
7 |
</p><pre class="screen">$ tar -xvzf phplot-6.*.tar.gz
8 |
$ cd phplot-6.*
9 |
</pre><p>
10 |
(Use the appropriate file and directory (folder) name.)
11 |
Check the distribution for README and/or INSTALL files which may contain
12 |
newer instructions.
13 |
</p><p>
14 |
Installation of PHPlot simply involves copying the script files somewhere
15 |
your PHP application scripts will be able to find them. The scripts are:
16 |
<code class="filename">phplot.php</code>, the main script file,
17 |
and <code class="filename">rgb.inc.php</code>, an optional script file containing a
18 |
large color map.
19 |
Make sure the protections on these files allow the web server to read them.
20 |
For example:
21 |
</p><pre class="screen">$ chmod 644 *.php
22 |
</pre><p>
23 |
</p><p>
24 |
Then, simply copy the files into a directory where PHP scripts
25 |
will be able to include them.
26 |
The ideal place is a directory outside your web server
27 |
document area, and on your PHP include path (that you noted above in
28 |
the PHP Info report). You can add to the include path
29 |
in the PHP configuration file; consult the PHP manual for details.
30 |
For example, if <code class="filename">/usr/local/share/php</code> is on
31 |
your PHP include path, you can install PHPlot with:
32 |
</p><pre class="screen">$ cp phplot.php rgb.inc.php /usr/local/share/php
33 |
</pre><p>
34 |
</p><div class="note" style="margin-left: 0.5in; margin-right: 0.5in;"><h3 class="title">Note</h3><p>
35 |
On Windows systems, you can simply download the release ZIP file, expand it
36 |
using Windows Explorer, and copy the needed script file(s) out of the
37 |
contained <code class="filename">phplot-*</code> folder into place.
38 |
